Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our friendly practice and supportive primary care team on a fixed term basis until 31st December 2026.

Working pattern

The post is for 2 sessions per week, with flexibility as follows:

  • Option 1: Full day on Monday (2 sessions)
  • Option 2: Split sessions across Monday and Tuesday (1 session each day)

Main duties of the job

  • Providing complete clinical care to our community including home visits, share of on-call shifts.
  • Undertake a mix of face-to-face, telephone and online consultations
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with practice and NHS standards
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team
  • An interest in under graduate teaching preferable as lots of opportunity to do this.

About us

We are a Doctor led practice with 2 partners and 5 salaried GPs who are committed to delivering high quality, patient centred care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Our team includes; 2 practice nurses, health care assistants, phlebotomists, pharmacy technician and an administrative support team who undertake signposting, workflow all incoming mail and coding.

We are part of the Outer West Newcastle Primary Care Network PCN), providing access to additional roles such as First Contact Physiotherapists, Dietitian, Social Prescribing Link Workers, Frailty Team, Counselling, Young People's Mental Health worker and a Medicine Management team with the Pharmacy Hub.

A practice list size of approx. 7,800 patients on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne. Throckley, is an old mining village and the sense of community remains very strong, this is a chance to experience family practice in the true sense of the word. Continuity of practitioner is very high as is patient satisfaction.

We have daily clinical meetings where team members can get together to discuss the working day including home visit requests and any clinical problems arising.

We are involved in undergraduate and post graduate teaching of Years 1, 2, 4 & 5.
